RIBS Clinches Fourth BIC Basketball trophy - 19
December 2004
RIBS College secured the title beating Himalayan
White House College 55-45 at the Fourth Brookfield Inter-college
Friendly Basketball Tournament final day on December 19, 2004.
Rupak Gurung scored 18, Nabin Shrestha 14, Tender
Hirachan 11 and Pramod Grung eight as RIBS came back from a 16-10
deficit in the first quarter. RIBS made the decisive push through
White House's resistance late in the second quarter. White House
threatened to come back for some time, leveling twice after that
but it could not keep up and lost by 10 points. Most Valuable Player
of the tournament Binod Shrestha (from Hilmalayan White House College
) tried to keep the hope alive with a consecutive pair of 3-pointers
twice in the last quarter but it wasn't enough.
A total of 16 colleges of the Kathmandu Valley
namely – host BIC, Whitefield College, Himalayan White House College,
Kathmandu Don Bosco College, LRI College, Sagarmatha College, Crimson
College, Prime College, Campaign College, Capital College, Xavier
College, CIT, Intensive College, Brihaspati College, had participated
in the week-long tourney.
Minister of State for Education and Sports Bal
Krishna Khand had presented trophies and medals to winning teams
on the final day of the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the motto
of the tournament 'friendship and fairplay through sports' and had
wished for other similar extra and co-curricular activities.
Brookfield beat Prime - 16th December 2004
Hosts Brookfield defeated Prime 45-44 and entered
the semi-final of the fourth inter college friendly basketball tournament.
In other quarter finals, Don Bosco beat LRI 35-32; Whitehouse beat
Xavier 56-13; and RIBS thrashed Campion Kathmandu 58-33.
Whitefield beat Brihaspati - 15th December 2004
Whitefield beat Brihaspati 31-13 with Karma's
11 on the last day of the league stage. Sajal's 15 helped Prime
beat Intensive 57-27 while Don Bosco beat CIT 33-31 in a close match.
Rajan Singh scored 13 for the winners.
The quarterfinals will be held on Thursday with
LRI playing Campion Kathmandu, Whitehouse playing Xavier College
and hosts Brookfield playing Prime.
LRI, RIBS enter quarter finals - 14th December
2004
Sunil Gurung netted 20 points as LRI defeated
Whitefield 42-17 and enter the quarter final. In other matches,
Rupak Gurung scored 18 points in RIB's 45-10 win over Intensive;
Sadish netted 19 points as Whitehouse thrashed Sagarmatha 64-17;
and Pawan Maharjan scored 18 points in Campion kathmandu's 44-20
victory over Crimson.
RIBS beat Prime - 13th December 2004
Sabin Gurung and Rupak Gurung netted 19 points
each as RIBS defeated Prime College 53-41 in the day's match of
the fourth inter college friendly basketball tournament, which haas
been organised by BIC. In other matches, Campion Kathmandu beat
Capital College 29-17; Whitehouse thrashed CIT 62-21; and LRI outplayed
Xavier Int'l College 35-28
Brookfield in Quarters - 12th December 2004
Ishwor Chaulagain netted 11 points as Brookfield
thrashed Crimson 52-12 to enter the quarter finals of the fourth
inter college friendly basketball tournament. In other matches LRI
Beat Brihaspati 52-8; Prime beat Campion Kumaripati 51-40; and Don
Bosco beat Sagarmatha 29-13.
Whitehouse College Win - 11th December 2004
Sadish Pradhan netted 11 points as Whitehouse
defeated Don Bosco 56-21. In other matches, Capital beat Krimson
29-20; Whitefield outplayed Xavier 50-42; RIBS edged out Campion
Kumaripati 45-31; hosts Brookfield thrashed Campion Kathmandu 51-22;
and Sagarmatha edged out CIT 39-38 in over time.
Brookfield starts with WIN - 10th December 2004
Hosts Brookfield thrashed Capital College 57-10
thanks to 15 from Ishwor Chaulagai today in the opening game of
the Higher Secondary Level Brookfield Baasketball Tournament 2004.
Xavier International College beat Brihaspati 42-17. Wisdom Pandey
led the winners' scoring with eight but the leading scorer of the
game was Brihaspati's Safal KC who shouldered his team scoring 10
of its total 17 points. In the last game of Day I, Karan Bahadur
Shrestha scored 30 to give Campion Academy Kumaripati a 54-33 win
over Intensive College.
Brookfield Basketball - 8th December 2004
Brookfield College is organizing the Fourth Inter
College Boys' Friendship Basketball Competition from December 10,2004.
Sixteen college teams are competing in the tournament
under four groups. In pool A are Whitefield College,LRI, Xavier
Int'l College and Brihaspati Vidyasadan where as Intensive, Campion
Academy Kumaripati, RIBS and Prime College will slog it out in Pool
B in the league cum knockout tournaament.
In Pool C are Don Bosco, CIT, Whitehouse and Sagarmatha
while the last Pool D has Crimson, Campion Kathmandu, Capital College
and Brookfield College.
